All questions answered here

What are the opening times? The studios will be open 7 days a week from 8am until 11pm.

How long is the lease? The lease we have been given is one full year, after which the owners may decide to exercise their right to sell the building. Should an offer to buy the building be accepted after our lease expires, we intend to broker a financial arrangement whereby we continue occupying the building until planning permissions are granted.

How much do the spaces cost? The rooms will vary in cost but we will inform you as soon as possible. We operate on a 2 months deposit and one month in advance basis. The application form has a section where you can put your budget or space requirement.

Are there any other costs? The rents are all inclusive of electricity (except for kilns), heating and WIFI (only in communal area & some studios). There is an additional £100 yearly service charge (can be paid in 2 installments) and you will be required to pay for Personal Liability Insurance (independent broker but charged through us).

Why are there 2 tariffs? You may chose between either of the two tariffs. The cheaper of the two is for those who opt to help out our community in some way. The tasks are not hugely demanding and will not require much time but they will be specifically assigned/chosen by you when you sign your contract- not fulfilling these obligations will automatically revert you to the more expensive tariff which will taken out of your deposit at the end of the year. The more expensive of the two tariffs is for a totally hands-off commitment.

What kind of commitments are there? The commitments will include a requirement to take part in open-studios as well as chose from a selection of tasks like, for example, occasionally watering the garden, spending 5 minutes talking to students about who tour our studios, curate a section of building, giving a class...or may utilise your skill set. They will be agreed with you ahead of signing contract.

From when are the studios available? The studios will be available from September and studio-visits will be from 2nd week of August. If you have applied and are successful, you will be notified shortly after the August viewings. There will be two further waves of application (early September and late September after which we will close application process. We will allocate chosen spaces on a first come, first serve basis and will try and accommodate your choices where possible but cannot guarantee.

How many artists will there be in all? We expect to be 200-220 artists/ designer-makers & performers

Can I share with a friend? The applications will have a section in which you can name your preferred room sharers (applicant or existing Kindred artist) & preferred room. Please note that there will be a minimum requirement per applicant. Should you take part of a room, we will find other compatible sharers.

What are the next steps? Please follow the link to the online application above and send it back to us as soon as possible. You will be invited to preview our new studios in the 1 & 2nd week of August and will need to put down 2 months deposit and one month in advance, on signing your new contract.
